The Bièvres International Photo Fair has been organised for the past 53 years by the Paris Val-de-Bièvre Photoclub with the support of the municipal authorities of Bièvres, a small town south-west of Paris. It all began in 1964 with the artists’ market. Then, in the 1970s, the secondhand and antique photography market was added and the Fair acquired an international reputation. Some ten years ago the Bièvres Encounters forum was created, providing space for talks on the technical, artistic, historical and other aspects of photography, followed in 2010 by the VIE area (travel, printing and publishing). Last year we added an alternative processes space with many hands-on demonstrations. All in all the Fair, occupying a 5-acre site, has become a place for meeting and exchanging everything related to photography and welcomes thousands of visitors every year.
In 2017 we will be moving the VIE and alternative processes areas to the centre of the fairgrounds. A wide variety of talks have been programmed along with two exhibitions: an Isabel Muñoz retrospective at the Grange aux Fraises and the Maison des Photographes et de l’Image, and an outdoor show by Christian Izorce entitled “A Day in Dapelogo”. You will also be able to try the latest Fuji cameras.
At the Fair you may sign up for a portfolio review, have your picture taken at the pop-up studio (and take your portrait home with you), take your picture in frames or stand-in cutouts using equipment lent by our sponsors, attend demonstrations of vintage processes, participate in contests and much more.
